Game-A-Week Episode 31: Pokemon Cafe Mix
[12:37 AM]
Its Game-A-Week mini volume 2
[12:38 AM]
Pokemon Cafe Mix is a free-to-play puzzle game on Nintendo Switch. I think its also on mobile because it exclusively uses touch screen controls.
[12:39 AM]
The gameplay is very simple. There are a bunch of Pokemon symbols in a mix and you have to match them to earn points.
[12:39 AM]
You can move symbols through other symbols but once you touch a symbol, the clock starts to tick and you have five seconds to match as many as possible.
[12:41 AM]
Most of the difficulty comes from not the required number of points for each level but the required number of breakable objects thrown into the mix of each level.
[12:42 AM]
These objects can only be cleared by matching symbols next to them a certain number of times depending on the object or by using your Pokemon's skill that recharges every time you score enough points.
[12:43 AM]
You only have a certain amount of moves so once the game really gets going, it can actually wall you off just by having one especially difficult level.
[12:43 AM]
And its very easy to waste a move by accidentally picking up the wrong symbol.
[12:44 AM]
When you get a game over, you can get 3 extra moves at the cost of in-game currency called Acorns. But when you're out of Acorns, you're out of luck and you have to restart the level.
[12:45 AM]
It can be brutal. Especially for someone like me who isn't big into puzzle games.
[12:49 AM]
But its still an enjoyable relaxing game about pokemon making sandwiches, drinks, sweets and other snacks.
[12:50 AM]
I give Pokemon Cafe Mix a 6/10. It can be frustratingly difficult but quite nice. And very cute.
[12:56 AM]
But the best part about this game is definitely that every Pokemon you hire to work at your Cafe gets to dress up in a cute little outfit.
